Coneygree House

Residential Waterproofing
This Cotswold property suffered from regular flooding due to weekly power cuts and severe weather patterns, and its previous waterproofing system was inadequately installed. The property needed a system that could cope with high volumes of water during power outages.

The Project

Power outages during adverse weather meant that Coneygree House’s current waterproofing system was unable to cope with the amount of water coming in, so flood damage was becoming a major problem. We were commissioned alongside Newton Waterproofing to implement a pumping system that wouldn’t be affected if the power was interrupted.

The Challenges

  • Ensuring a fully functional waterproofed system worked during power interruptions
  • Existing basement waterproofing needed to comply with BS8102:2022

Our Approach

We decided to use an Victron Quattro Inverter, which works by inverting 12V DC power from a battery (or multiple batteries) to clean and efficient 230V power. Because of the length of the power outage, the client required extra security in the instance that the batteries depleted before the power was restored – a frequent occurrence in this village. We installed a self-start generator system and linked it to the Victron Quattro Inverter, and pipework was laid in preparation for installation of the pumps. Two NP750 high-performance pumps were then installed within a pre-formed sump chamber and installed the generator system within a purpose-built housing.

The Result

The Victron Quattro Inverter, working alongside the generator system, provided unlimited power during prolonged power outage, as the batteries recharge once they reach a predetermined state of depletion. This has given the basement unequalled protection and ensured that it remains dry at all times. The system has been tried and tested numerous times since the installation and our clients were given peace of mind.

Customer Insights

Guardian reassured us that our basement could both be repaired and protected from future problems. A comprehensive approach to what was needed was clearly explained and there were no financial surprises. The team that delivered the work were really great, very thoughtful and considerate and always happy to explain the progress of the repairs. They were particularly good at remembering that even though our basement was their place of work it is also part of our home. We would definitely recommend Guardian as an organisation that offers professionalism, reassurance and expertise.
